The totals are still being tallied but the Norton Kiwanis is confident they've raised plenty of money selling chili to pay for their annual scholarship to a Norton High School senior.
More than 100 hungry visitors turned out Feb. 18 for the annual Chili Cook-off at the Norton Community Center.
It was $5 to enter a pot of chili for judging and $5 to buy the right to sample the fare. Volunteers from Norton's Key Club manned the admission table and sold raffle tickets.
The stew was judged in four categories: Non-traditional, hot, mild and commercial. Winners were:
Non-traditional
First - Shirley Bennet
Second - Richard Cardarelli, turkey-vegetable
Third - Patricia Cardarelli, vegetable
Commercial
First - Cristo's House of Pasta
Second - Brookside Country Club
Third - 3-Sons Restaurant
Mild
First - Mike Barkey
Second - Chelsea Campbell
Third - Debbie Crawford
Hot
First - Ed Campbell
Second - Adam Bennet
Third - "Momma" Loretta Henery
