HINCKLEY – Once again, Mike Meadows, owner of First Day School Supplies, is ready to tackle the challenge of raising money for local charitable causes through his annual Meadows Turkey Bowl football game.

The only thing different this year is the location, changed from Medina to the soon-to-be new home of First Day at 2659 Center Road, Hinckley.

The new building is under construction and a new field has been cleared through the charity of Jim Frizell, CEO of Barkley Excavating. Frizell, who says he’s “a sucker for charities,” delivered over 20 truckloads of topsoil in preparing the new field.

The Annual Turkey Bowl is in its 30th year and last year raised $318,000 for those in need.

This year, fundraising efforts will go towards helping three local cancer victims and their families as well as the family of Robin Eckelberry who died in a boating accident on Labor Day.

Kick-off time is 8 a.m. Thanksgiving morning and about 40 team members will suit it up for charity.
