He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. Harry was a retired carpenter, having worked for the Blackburn Company and enjoyed the opportunity of helping build his brother's homes. Harry had been a member of the Valley City Fire Department for 15 years.

Eunice K. Shephard passed away peacefully on April 17, 2012 in San Mateo, Calif. at the age of 91. Eunice was born May 5, 1920 in Milwaukee to parents George John Kuechle and Maria H. Brauer while they were on furlough from India where they were missionaries. When Eunice was 6 months old, her family sailed to Madras, India where her father was a missionary and her mother a nurse. After five years in India the family sailed for Australia, where her father was professor of languages at a Lutheran seminary in Adelaide. Eunice's mother's parents were from Hahndorf, Australia and all her family lived in various parts of Australia as well.
