Jack Davies

John Davies, of Medina, passed into eternal peace Aug. 11, 2019.

Jack was the son of the late William and Maude (née Dixon) Davies. He was a 1948 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1951. He met the love of his life, Lorraine Polunas, on a blind date and married her Aug. 4,1956. He worked at NASA from 1957, until he retired in 1990. He helped develop the ion propulsion engine used by NASA space craft. He enjoyed working at Buehler’s groceries in Medina after retirement until 2011. He loved gardening, woodworking and shared the fruits of his garden to all. He enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends when he was younger and he was an active member of First Baptist Church of Medina.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine; sister, Mary (Thomas) Delaware; sons, John (Bonnie) Davies, of Miamisburg, Greg (Marilyn) Davies, of Euclid, and Bill Davies, of Medina; grandchildren, Amanda and Gillian Davies; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Edward and Dave; sisters, Betty Martin, Gwen Dale, Ruth Kaczinski and Honor Brader.

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, Aug. 24 from 2-4 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following visitation. A private interment is scheduled at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory can be made to Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina, OH 44256.
