House Bill 522 will ensure that Ohioans’ safety is first

To the Editor:

Speaker Cliff Rosenberger needs to give House Bill 522 a hearing and an up or down vote of the Ohio House of Representatives before summer recess. The safety of Ohioans should be put ahead of politics. HB 522 proposes to increase regulations on injection wells, fracking waste and require local government approval prior to issuance of an oil or gas well permit. This bill, introduced by Rep. Debbie Phillips, will help restore some home rule authority back to local governments that has been eroded over the years by the General Assembly. Most importantly, it will ensure that Ohioans’ safety is put first.
