Dan M. Saunders, 32, of Rittman, died unexpectedly Jan. 10, 2020, following a hard-fought battle with addiction.

He was born in Russelsheim, Germany, to Mark and Conny (née Weinel) Saunders and moved to the United States at the age of seven. He lived most of his life in Rittman. Dan will be remembered for being compassionate toward elderly people and those that knew him would say he had a heart of gold. He would take the shirt off his back if you needed it. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to play pranks and joke with his family and friends. He most loved spending time with his family, especially his children. He enjoyed being outdoors, teaching them to fish and watching them play soccer. Dan will be missed by countless family in Germany and the U.S. and many friends.

Surviving are his parents; Mark and Conny Saunders; wife, Brianna Saunders; children, Mason, Jaydan, Parker and Aubrey Saunders; brother, Chase Saunders; sisters, Mandy and Mackenzie Saunders; niece, Ellie Saunders; nephew, JT Provence; grandfather, Kermit (Waneta) Saunders; sister-in-law, Marisa (Nick) Provence; in-laws, Brian and Kim Vasiloff; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.

Auble-Gillman Funeral Home handled arrangements.
