Bernice A. Ody

Bernice A. “Bernie” Ody, 94, of Ashland, and formerly of Spencer, passed away Jan. 23, 2014 at the Medina Meadows. She was born in Sterling on Aug. 8, 1919 to Charles and Orpha Dale (Clark) Roach.

Bernie had lived most of her life in Spencer and was a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church and Spencer Pythian Sisters Lodge.

She had enjoyed playing the piano, golfing, bowling, knitting, crocheting and playing euchre, but her greatest enjoyment came from her loving family.

She was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all.

Surviving are her two daughters, Bobbie Sumpter, of Lodi and Peggy (Rob) Moyers, of Ashland; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Wilmer Charles Roach, of Old Town, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 1976; daughter, Donna Hardway; sisters, Eldora and Margarete, and brothers Elmer and Kenneth.

Parker and Son Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
