On June 29, the Black River Fullbackers will host their annual Al “Buz” Anderson Fallen Fullbackers Memorial 5K Run.
This year, the race will take place at the Black River High School cross country course with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. and the race following at 8:30.
The Black River Fullbackers Club is a charitable, tax-exempt 501c3 organization whose members are committed to the improvement of the Black River Football program. The Fullbackers Club focuses its funding of the program to create the safest competitive program possible. The fundraising is a grass-roots community effort that relies strongly on volunteer efforts to make all of its events successful.
“Proceeds from the race will benefit the football program, as well as the cross country team for their help with timekeeping and registration the day of the race,” said Fullbackers member Kenneth Homoki. “We encourage anyone that can attend to come out and enjoy a wonderful day in support of our students and a great cause.”
Al “Buz” Anderson was a member of the Fullbackers and a Wellington firefighter who gave his life to save others. Each year, the Black River Fullbackers hold this run in memory of Al “Buz” Anderson, as well as all of their fallen Fullbackers.
To register for the event, visit www.blackriverfullbackers.org and mail the race form to PO Box 202, Spencer, Ohio 44275 or contact any Black River Fullbacker and they will provide a registration form.
